The original one for the Game Boy, that is.

This is the first time it really struck me how much work was put into minor details of the game - and quite a few other games, now that I think about it. The slight period of acceleration when you start moving, the changing speed when you reach the peak of a jump, the animations when you hit a wall or fall a long distance. These are things you never really notice of course, until they're gone... as I discovered myself, from playing a tutorial platformer included with Game Maker. Then, of course, there are all the noticeable touches that need to go into a game to give it proper polish...

What ever happened to the Atari days, when a one-man development team was the norm for even professional games?

And why am I posting this, anyway?
